40 Drupal Must Have Modules - So Says Lullabot

Lullabot Podcast 80: Top 40 Drupal Modules Revisited.

So the Lullabot peeps, a sort of Drupal mafia, have recently compiled their list of Top 40 Drupal Modules.

All-in-all it is pretty good list though it does lean at times to the developer side and to the "hey I created that module; how did that get on the list (snicker, snicker)?"

Most are really good choices but they do leave out some other seemingly very capable modules (watcher module, http://drupal.org/project/watcher left off in favor of comment notify, http://drupal.org/project/comment_notify). I haven't used comment notify so I don't have a comparison but I'm not the one that made the list.

This is a pretty good podcast, perfect for a long drive as it is well over an hour.

Drupal 6.x Facebook Connect Module (beta 3)

Your rating: None Average: 3 (3 votes)

I recently downloaded and installed the latest release of the Facebook Connect module and wrote a brief summary of that experience on Drupal North Carolina.

I won't rehash all of that here, you know how to use a web browser, but I will provide a brief summary for those interested in where this module seems to stand now.

Module Installation Time: 30 minutes to 1 hour+ (plus if you have never created a facebook application before, it's not rocket science but takes time).

Requirements: You'll have to have a facebook account (go figure).

Warnings and Pitfalls

Joomla vs Drupal: Part 3 (Modules/Extensions/Third-Party Stuff)

Your rating: None Average: 2 (1 vote)

Both Joomla 1.5 and Drupal 6.2 have nice stable cores as content management systems, congratulation to both the communities that have made this the case, but what can really make you CMS based websites explode (in a good way) with functionality are add-on modules (in Drupalese) and extensions (in Joomlan) that can do anything from add a gallery feature to create all you need for a whole social networking-based website and everything in between and beyond.
