This looks a like a really great tutorial on Drupal Theming. A couple of the intro section are free but the full course requires a subscription to lynda.com but for what you are getting in this tutorial it is a really good investment compared to poking around drupal.org trying to figure this stuff out.

Lullabot Podcast 80: Top 40 Drupal Modules Revisited.

So the Lullabot peeps, a sort of Drupal mafia, have recently compiled their list of Top 40 Drupal Modules.

All-in-all it is pretty good list though it does lean at times to the developer side and to the "hey I created that module; how did that get on the list (snicker, snicker)?"

Most are really good choices but they do leave out some other seemingly very capable modules (watcher module, http://drupal.org/project/watcher left off in favor of comment notify, http://drupal.org/project/comment_notify). I haven't used comment notify so I don't have a comparison but I'm not the one that made the list.

This is a pretty good podcast, perfect for a long drive as it is well over an hour.
