Twitter - Dead Tweet Walking

Twitter's finest hour has passed and soon it will as well.
For all the attention Twitter gets it has yet to and will never be sustainable.
Poor architecture, lack of vision with regards to its mission, and lack of mass appeal (despite the perception) will doom it.
What did Twitter accomplish in its short life that is noteworthy?
Twitter essentially (partially) mainstreamed RSS and validated the utility and value of RSS behaviors to and of the common man. That's it.
There is no magic to Twitter. Nothing terribly exciting or innovative other than using later life marketing genius to turn "Really Simple Syndication" into "Really Sexy Syndication."
But once everyone figured that the secret sauce was really just normal sauce in a fancy bottle, the wheels started falling off.
Facebook buying FriendFeed (http://friendfeed.com) shows that Facebook has peeled of the label and see the the light. All they have to do now is slap on their own label and pimp it out to their, oh, 250 million users.
Sure cottage industries have sprouted up around Twitter and its API but Twitter hasn't figured out how to capitalize on all those "eyeballs."
It leaves me to wonder: What will be the last tweet.
