Meh the People

July 14, 2024 Staff

Epiphany II (Adoration of the Shepherds) by Gottfried Helnwein 1998

to condone violence is to invite violence

if you present violence as a language you speak

when words and reason appear unintelligible or ignored

it may be perceived as the only language you hear and understand

and some will insist on being heard

to excuse violence is to defend it

and bestow its wielders with power

because violence is not power, it is force, a means

power is in the belief and enforcement of accountability and consequence

authoritarians believe in enforcement and accountability

but

in uneven self-serving administration

in a lawed lawlessness

in a paper patina of justice, rights, and freedom

in a civil society enforcement and accountability are

transparent

balanced and biased toward the protection of the individual

against a possible twisted corruption of government and process

for elected governments are reflections

of the people allowed to vote

and the candidates willing to serve

selfish candidates will seed selfish government

a government design to serve a ME cannot serve the WE

It is a choice. It is our choice.

Me the People or We the People
